Prague Improvisation Orchestra is teaming up with American musicians Andrew Raffo Dewar (saxophone) and Matthew Ostrowski (computer) to perform an original composition by Dewar and a collective improvisation at Prague's Studio Alta. Founded in 2012 by George Cremaschi and Petr Vrba, the 15-member Prague Improvisation Orchestra (PIO) performs free improvisation and with open scores and graphic notation. Andrew Raffo Dewar is a composer, ethnomusicologist, and instrumentalist with a background in the traditional and experimental music of Indonesia. His work has been performed by the Flux Quartet (USA), Sekar Anu (Indonesia), the Koto Phase ensemble (USA/Japan), and the XYZ composer collective (USA). Matthew Ostrowski has been working in the fields of improvised music, music theater, electroacoustic composition, and audio installation since the 1980s. He currently performs as one half of the duo KRK with Cremaschi. The Agosto Foundation is pleased to support this evening of original music and all of the work of PIO through the end of 2015.
