As part of its grant program Perpedes, the Agosto Foundation is requesting nominations from the general public for the support of the activities of individual artists, as well as for artistic or cultural projects.

The Perpedes grant program fosters a closer connection between artistic and cultural activities, and the daily lives of various social strata and communities, on both the local and regional scale. The program focuses on strengthening smaller individual and civic initiatives which intersect or interact with interdisciplinary cooperation, and which address themes pertaining to social and environmental networks working within the framework of contemporary art.

The program is administered by the Agosto Foundation which has allocated 660,000 CZK for the year 2018. The grants may be offered to both legal entities (associations, societies, local action groups, etc.) as well as individuals. The maximum amount of any one grant is set at 80,000 CZK. How the contribution is used and the project schedule will be specified during a personal meeting, and will be based on the individual needs of the chosen candidates. The grants are authorized by the Foundation’s statutory board which bases its decisions on the recommendation of the grant committee.

The Agosto Foundation was founded in 2013 and is a non-governmental organization based in Prague. Its main activities support cultural and social programs, and a large part of its activities consists in supporting conscientious and sustainable development of such art forms which support positive social and cultural change. A strong emphasis is placed on an innovative, experimental and interdisciplinary approach, the defense of values such as the free and open exchange of information and experiences, open discussion in a trans-generational and intercultural space, with a special focus on projects which have educational import.

Through its endowments, the foundation supports those initiatives which strive for individual and social development and which, as part of their artistic practice, grapple with the complex challenges which such change inevitably entails.

The Agosto Foundation was founded in 2013 as a private entity in Prague to promote social and cultural programs, supporting their development and intersection through a transdisciplinary approach.

Through its activities the foundation reflects upon existing structures and conditions encouraging the resourceful and effective development of diverse art, media and creative practices. Particular attention is given to “modes of improvisation”, which are experimental approaches across disciplines and education backgrounds. Additionally, our grant activity aims to support cultural and social development initiatives, taking on the complex challenge of achieving collective local impact.

The foundation’s main areas of focus are:

· community and self-organized initiatives
· platforms for continuous knowledge sharing of ideas
· alternative learning and public participatory models
· transnational network development
· autonomous grassroots initiatives
· social and environmental justice

Agosto Foundation currently offers the Perpedes Grant Program annually, with an open call around the middle of the year. For grant support for other projects, the foundation does not declare a general selection procedure and has no application deadlines.

If you have a project which needs priority attention and which addresses the foundation’s areas of focus as described above, please do not hesitate to approach us at info@agosto-foundation.org. We will be happy to include your proposal in the first round for consideration for support whenever it becomes feasible. Due to the large number of proposals received, we are unable to answer every request individually.

Please follow our email newsletter and website for updates on grants and other Agosto Foundation activities. For information on previous grants and recipients, please review our annual reports, which can be found on our Documents page.
