An Interview with Christof Kurzmann

vs. Interpretation 2016

Our video series continues with an interview with Christof Kurzmann, an Austrian composer and performer who provided a compositional framework for and conducted a performance of an expanded lineup of Prague Improvisation Orchestra. In the upcoming months we will be continuing this series, featuring selected artists who also appeared at the 2016 vs. Interpretation festival, including: Hans Van Koolwijk, Praed, Lê Quan Ninh, Christine Abdelnour and Sarah Washington.

 

The second vs. Interpretation festival, organized by the Agosto Foundation, took place in spring 2016 in Prague, and focused on music improvisation that extends into the fields of motion, the visual arts, and new approaches in composition. A wide variety of international performers and musicians participated, exploring the current state of improvised music and sound art, combining performances, graphic art, installations, and public events.
