In the twentieth century, the natural and social sciences alike imagined the world as composed of individuals with distinct bodies, genomes, and competing vested interests. Twenty-first-century research has shown that symbiosis is a near-requirement for life – even for Homo sapiens. Life is symbiosis “all the way down.” However, when conditions suddenly shift, once life-sustaining relationships sometimes turn deadly. The Agosto Foundation sponsored Symbiont film series is a storytelling response in times of vulnerability and radical ecosystemic changes. Each film will include a personal introduction by its creator.

In the process of going through the archives from the symposia at Plasy monastery from 1992-1999, we have uncovered two films which were created during that time. Both will have their Czech premieres during an upcoming screening at the Bio Ponrepo. The evening will start with an ultraaleatoric infrasound performance by LFNFU (The Legendary Forever Night Frog Unit).

Prague premiere of biographical documentary on Tony Conrad takes place 9 February, 2017 at 8 PM at the Bio Ponrepo. The screening includes the vs. Interpretation 2016 Festival documentary by Dominik Žižka and a short performance by Prague Improvisation Orchestra as an homage to Tony Conrad.
