RurArtMap and Perpedian Map: Black Edition

This project focuses on capacity building for regional, cultural and art initiatives which take an active part in addressing social issues and the environment. Taking as its model our Perpedian Map, the project joins with the RurArtMap project (yo-yo association) to offer support to small non-profit and non-governmental art and cultural organisations, communities, initiatives and individuals, who create and contribute to the local contemporary milieux that lie within their immediate reach.

We are honored that the project has been joined by the following team of External Researchers currently working in the field. With their help, over the next year and a half, we will be bringing you profiles, overviews, and articles about some of the smaller cultural initiatives in the regions of the country.

  • Dagmar Šubrtová, with a special focus on the regions of: Plzeň, Ústí nad Labem and Karlovy Vary.

  • Jakub Frank focusing on these regions: Olomouc, Moravia-Silesia, and Zlín in cooperation with Magdaléna Petrákova.

  • Petr Kovář focusing on the region of: Vysočina.

  • Ondřej Navrátil focusing on the region of: South Moravia.

  • Jan Freiberg focusing on these regions: South Bohemia and Central Bohemia.

  • Kristýna Pozlerová focusing on these regions: Hradec Králové, Pardubice and Liberec.

Soundscape Ecology Plunges Us Into a Wilder World Beyond the Mundane and Merely Visual
Bernie Krause

When I first wandered into a forest with a recorder and a pair of microphones, in 1968, I was scared to death and literally clueless about how to listen and capture the sounds of the woods. I was on a blind mission — initially drawn there to hear and capture natural ambiences to include as part of an orchestration for an electronic music album and, in the process, find a location that produced something other than the din of human noise.
